Long Sutton Church of England Primary School
Long Sutton Church of England Primary School was originally established in 1873 on the Village Green. Since 1992 our attractive four class school has been in the present premises, adjacent to the Village Hall. The modern building serves the needs of the school well and governors are constantly adapting the facilities to the changes necessary to keep pace with modern developments in the curriculum and in technology.

The school aims to develop the full potential of each child within a strong Christian context. The last school inspection (in October 2011) was very positive stating:
“The Curriculum is enriched particularly well, ensuring they (the children) really enjoy school and attain above average attendance levels. Strong partnerships with the local community and parents and carers also support pupils’ well-being and education well.”
”Pupils feel very safe in school, being well aware of how to keep safe in different situations, for example in water. Playground monitors help sort out differences, ensuring good behaviour.”
Extra Curricular Activities
Long Sutton School benefits from a breakfast club and after school club (3.30 club) to help parents, by extending the school day. There are many traditional village school extracurricular activities on offer: choir, country dancing and cross country running are specialities of the school, as well as netball, football and gardening club. The children go on residential trips to Kilve and Mill on the Brue in years 5 and 6.
The school is exceptionally unique in that it has its own swimming pool for the children to learn to swim on site through the summer months.
Toy Box is based in a mobile classroom within the school grounds. We have our own outside play area which is partially covered giving us access to a range of activities in all weathers, such as large toys, sand, water, home corner, mud kitchen climbing frame and slides etc.
As our pre-school is very much part of the main school and is included in all aspects of school life. We work very closely with the reception class teacher; use the school’s facilities such as, the hall, playing field, garden, heated outdoor swimming pool and library.
